In the Best of Company

In General Information on October 23, 2008 at 6:13 pm

I recently confided in someone close to me that this election is wearing on my patience. Some of my acquaintances, including people who call themselves Catholic, have been inundating me with pro-Obama propaganda. My views have been mocked. I have been called racist, anti-gay, prejudiced, and unintelligent. It has been suggested that I am against helping the poor and even that I am NOT pro-life (because I don’t support the liberal social agenda). As someone who has always striven to live my faith, it has been tremendously hurtful to have something so fundamental to my being made fun of or trivialized on a daily basis. It bothers me immensely to see Barack Obama’s face pasted into religious images, to hear people compare him to a messiah and make statements such as “Jesus was a community organizer, Pontius Pilate was a governor.” The person who I confided in had a very good and reassuring point. She said, “Remember that Jesus was also mocked. You are in the best of company.”

Keep it up! We are making progress!

In General Information, Prayer on October 23, 2008 at 5:27 pm

According to this article, the most accurate pollster from the 2004 elections shows McCain surging ahead. The best news? He has almost completely reversed his standing among Catholic voters! Clearly the message is getting out, our prayers are working, and our fellow Catholics are seeing the light.

McCain has cut into Obama’s lead for a second day and is now just 1.1 points behind. The spread was 3.7 Wednesday and 6.0 Tuesday. The Republican is making headway with middle- and working- class voters, and has surged 10 points in two days among those earning between $30,000 and $75,000. He has also gone from an 11-point deļ¬cit to a 9-point lead among Catholics.

We must continue to pray right up until the polls close, regardless of positive or negative news. Remember God’s words: “I would not destroy it for the sake of ten.” Keep faith that God will help us uphold the real progress we have made for the sake of life over the past eight years. Don’t be discouraged, but instead strive to be one of those ten.

Obama’s Abortion Extremism

In General Information on October 15, 2008 at 5:01 pm

I came across this excellent piece of writing by Robert George, a professor at Princeton University. An excerpt follows:

In perhaps the most telling comment made by any candidate in either party in this election year, Senator Obama, when asked by Rick Warren when a baby gets human rights, replied: ”that question is above my pay grade.” It was a profoundly disingenuous answer: For even at a state senator’s pay grade, Obama presumed to answer that question with blind certainty. His unspoken answer then, as now, is chilling: human beings have no rights until infancy – and if they are unwanted survivors of attempted abortions, not even then.

Dissecting FOCA

In General Information on October 14, 2008 at 10:24 pm

After reading from several sources that Barack Obama is a supporter of the Freedom of Choice Act, or FOCA, I decided to read the Act. I am utterly disgusted that our elected representatives are seeking to pass a bill so blatantly filled with opinion and unconstitutional proposals. It is deeply disturbing that some Catholics would support a candidate who proposes to seriously impinge on the rights of pro-life Catholics, especially those in the medical field. We cannot allow a person with such extremist views to become President of the United States. As a Catholic, Joe Biden should be ashamed to share the ticket with such a man.

The complete text of FOCA follows (my comments in italics): Read the rest of this entry »

Barack Obama and the Born Alive Infant Protection Act

In General Information, Video on October 9, 2008 at 4:21 pm

In 1999 a gruesome discovery was made that an Illinois hospital was shelving babies to die in a soiled utility room who had survived their abortions.

The Illinois Born Alive Infants Protection Act was introduced in 2001 to provide legal protection to all born babies, wanted or not, including the right to medical care.

Then-state Senator Barack Obama voted against Born Alive 4 times in 3 years and was the sole senator to speak against it on the Senate floor in 2001 and 2002.

In 2002, the Federal version of Born Alive passed unanimously in the US Senate and by overwhelming voice vote in the House. The pro-abortion group NARAL even went neutral on the bill.

But In 2003, Barack Obama voted against the identical version of Born Alive in Illinois. Then, for the next 4 years he repeatedly misrepresented his vote until it was recently discovered in the IL General Assembly archives.

Visit to learn more about Senator Barack Obama’s atrocious record with regard to the rights of infants.

The Power of Prayer

In Prayer on October 3, 2008 at 9:38 am

On this site I specifically encourage people to ask St. Therese to intercede on our behalf. I have many personal reasons for doing so, but the most important reason is that I truly believe she has intervened in a previous election, if not to ensure that a specific candidate won, then at least to assure me that I need not worry. Prior to now I have only shared my story with one other person, out of fear that some might see me as a “wack job”, and others might criticize my support for the candidate who won (however I am willing and able to defend myself on both counts!).
